New York is the fourth-most populous, and the seventh-most densely populated state. It has one of the oldest and most extensive transportation infrastructures in the US that publicly serves a daily average of 4.8 million subway riders daily and a bus system that annually serves 2.6 million passengers. New York State also shares an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north.
